Students in Mrs. Estes' science class enjoyed a lab with Mrs. Lacy where they got to prepare sterile petri dishes for an activity to grow microorganisms. Students witnessed how petri dishes are prepared by mixing 1000ML of boiling water with a container of Agar. Once the solution was ready, it was poured carefully into sterile petri dishes and set aside. Students later went back to their dish and swabbed their mouth with a sterile swab. They then streaked their individual plate to as an experiment to watch what would grow. All of this was documented in the students' Interactive Science Journals. A special thanks goes to Mrs. Jennifer Alexander at the High School for loaning our students the supplies needed to create and enjoy this lab experience.
