🎉 PBIS Student of the Week: 🎉
Congratulations to this week’s outstanding student, Isabella Bowden, for her responsible nature and kindness in class each day! Isabella was nominated by two of her teachers - Mr. Greer and Mrs. Vance. Most recently, Mrs. Vance expressed this:
"I would like to nominate Isabella Bowden for PBIS Student of the Week. Isabella is a superior student who consistently participates in class and brings a positive presence to our classroom every single day. She goes out of her way to make others feel valued and seen, which speaks volumes about her character. While I was recently out, Isabella took the time to email me to say she was praying for me and hoping I was okay—a small gesture that made a huge impact. Her kindness and thoughtfulness truly set her apart. Isabella is also heavily involved in after-school activities, which sometimes require her to miss school. Even so, she never misses a beat. She is responsible, proactive, and works tirelessly in every spare moment to make up assignments and maintain strong grades. Simply put, Isabella makes our classroom a better place just by being in it. She is a shining example of leadership, compassion, and dedication, and she is more than deserving of this recognition. Congratulations, Isabella!" 👏💙
A special thank you to Sumner Beaumont York & Kincaid Insurance Group for sponsoring our Student of the Week recognition!

Due to developing weather conditions and out of an abundance of caution for the safety of students, families, college representatives, volunteers, and staff, the decision has been made to postpone the Greater Atlanta HBCU College Fair scheduled for Saturday, January 31st.
🗓 New Event Date: Saturday, March 7 (tentative)
📍 Location: South Gwinnett High School (unchanged)
This decision was made with safety as a top priority, particularly for those who would need to travel. This adjustment will allow delivery of the best possible experience for everyone involved.

💻 Real-World Learning in Action! 💻
In our Computer Science CTAE labs, students gain true hands-on experience that goes beyond the textbook. One common issue we run into is a design flaw in the desktop computers where a small internal piece causes the power button to stick, making the computers difficult to turn on.
Thanks to Tift County High School Network Technician Mr. Josh Bowyer, Dr. Busbin received a quick, practical tutorial on how to fix the issue when it occurs. She then passed that knowledge on to student interns and classroom learners.
Now, when the problem comes up, students can troubleshoot and resolve it themselves—no downtime, no waiting.
This is real experience.
Authentic. Actionable. Empowering.

Collaboration in action! Students in Mr. Earl’s and Mr. Smith’s U.S. History classes worked in small groups reviewing the causes of the American Revolution, major battles, and the contributions of women, African Americans, and Native Americans. 📖✨#4theT
Mrs. Bowen’s class is learning about the roles of government using the Jigsaw Method. Each student learned about one role of government and then shared what they learned with their classmates. This activity helped students work together, listen to each other, and better understand how government works, thus becoming an “expert” 🧠 on one role of government. Great teamwork and learning in Mrs. Bowen’s class! Ms. Bowen’s class shows that economics can be an interactive and fun experience! 🎉 👏 #4theT 📚🧩

Students in Mrs. Alexander’s and Mrs. Staines’ classes put their investigative skills to the test by creating detailed crime scenes of their own design 🕵️♂️🗂️ Each scene included key elements such as furniture, evidence, and the date and time of the incident 🕰️🧩
Through this hands-on activity, students practiced careful observation and accurate documentation—essential skills in crime scene investigation. The lesson highlighted how precision and attention to detail help investigators analyze evidence and reconstruct events 🔍📝

Building the business leaders of tomorrow. We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of Round 2 for the Tifton-Tift County FLEX Program!
This program has benefited young entrepreneurs by giving them real-world experience of building a business from the ground up. Today they showcased the incredible innovation and professionalism they have learned through the workshops and advice they have received throughout this journey. It is inspiring to see such talent within our school system. We want to extend our sincere gratitude to the local judges who volunteered their expertise to mentor and evaluate these rising entrepreneurs.
Looking Ahead: Round 3 is just around the corner! Students will soon begin presentation workshops to sharpen their skills for the final pitch competition. We can't wait to see them shine in front of their peers, friends, and family!
TCHS Flex Program Advisor: Breanne Dawson

Hands-on learning in biology! 🧬 Students in Mrs. Cindy Marzen's class rotated through charts, collecting and recording key information on each of the five kingdoms. Love seeing learning in motion! #4theT
Today, Tift County CTI students received State Leadership training from Dr. Tonja Cummings Tift with Georgia CTI, and it was a great experience for our students. They practiced creating elevator speeches, introducing themselves, and learned the importance of a proper handshake and self-confidence when making a first impression.
Dr. Tift encouraged students to step outside their comfort zones, use their voice, and not be afraid to stand and deliver. She shared the powerful reminder: “If you’re always ready, you never have to get ready.”
Students also began working on their resumes using a personal inventory to focus on their skills, experience, and goals. The resume preparation is essential because each student competing in State Leadership must have a career portfolio. To wrap up the training, students made homemade stress balls using rice and balloons.
We are thankful to GVRA and Dr. Tift for their continued support and opportunities they provide for our students. #4theT #ChallengeTheImpossible #RaisingTheBar
