The TCHS Chapter of FCCLA began collecting new and gently used books in September of 2023 with the goal of distributing these books to elementary-aged students who may not have access to books at home. At the end of the collection period over 1,000 books were collected. FCCLA members worked to organize the books by grade level and genre and then used teacher recommendations to select books for specific students. On February 15, 2024, FCCLA members visited Charles Spencer Elementary School, G.O Bailey Elementary School, Matt Wilson Elementary School, and Northside Elementary School to deliver these books. After each student opened their hand-picked, wrapped book, the high school students were able to spend time reading with them. This is a heart-warming and exciting time for all involved. A special thank you to those who donated books and helped raise awareness about our service project. #4theT

TCHS Floral Design students learned different flower forms including mass, line, filler, form, and foliage. They also learned how they were used to create floral arrangements. In addition, they preserved flowers through pressing and made art projects with their pressed flowers. Then they used that knowledge to create soda candy bouquets from tissue paper. #4theT

Recently, FCCLA and CTI enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of the Georgia Aquarium. While this tour was fun, interesting, and educational, it was also very enlightening. The students were able to see firsthand just how CTAE classes are a giant stepping-stone in giving them the knowledge and skills needed to perform different jobs offered there at the aquarium. #4theT
